Guleraana Mir is an award-winning writer, theatre maker and one third of female-led theatre company, The Thelmas. She uses untold cultural, historical and socio-political experiences to understand the complexities of the world and tell emotionally authentic stories that celebrate not stereotype.
Her work spans professional writing for stage and screen, creating new work with young people and community groups, and supporting individuals and organisations to overcome barriers to creativity. With a background in applied theatre, she is passionate about the meeting of the participatory and professional. Her practice is heavily influenced by the work of Augusto Boal, centring themes of social justice in unexpected ways.

Guleraana Mir is an award winning writer, theatre maker and one third of female-led theatre company, The Thelmas. She uses untold cultural, historical and socio-political experiences to understand the complexities of the world and tell emotionally authentic stories that celebrate not stereotype.
Her work spans professional writing for stage and screen, creating new work with young people and community groups, and supporting individuals and organisations to overcome barriers to creativity. She is passionate about the meeting of the participatory and professional. With a background in applied theatre, her practice is heavily influenced by the work of Augusto Boal, centring themes of social justice in unexpected ways.
She leads writing programmes for artists of all ages at a number of institutions, is a visiting practitioner at Central School of Speech and Drama, and has worked on participatory playwriting projects for institutions such as Almeida Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, and Old Vic Theatre. Creating theatre with young people makes her heart sing.
Guleraana has been supported by some of the UK's leading arts organisations throughout her development as a writer, including Tamasha Theatre, BBC Writersroom North, Sphinx Theatre, Shakespeare's Globe, Soho Theatre, Sky Studios and BAFTA Connect.
Alongside her professional practice, Guleraana maintains a long personal writing archive spanning poetry and prose. She is currently working on I AM THE GHOST OF QANDEEL BALOCH- her first play for the mainstage, developing LAHORI NIGHTS for TV with afshan d’souza-lodhi (commissioned to pilot by Sky Studios), and is under commission from HighTide Theatre.
Guleraana sits on the Equality & Diversity Committee and has worked with the Disability Working Group for Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, and is a trustee for The Habbit Factory, an inclusive arts charity. She is based in East London and can be found at guleraanamir.com and guleraana.substack.com.
